City Tour Salalah
Enjoy a half day insight into the city center of Salalah:
Start the tour with a visit to the second largest mosque in the country, the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the city center. Dominated by warm, sandy colors and illuminated by several crystal chandeliers, the interior of the mosque exudes a special and at the same time peaceful atmosphere.
After a brief photo stop at the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos ("Al Husn Palace ", not publicly accessible), take a walk through the still remaining, old Haffah Souk, famous for the sale of high quality frankincense and many other souvenirs like colorful clay incense burners with traditional patterns. Here you get a lot of information on the use of frankincense and its special features.
Next, drive to the Museum of the frankincense land, which is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Al Baleed". Here you will visit the museum, which is the latest addition to the heritage of Oman and the cultural scene. It houses two halls, on the one hand the historical hall, with general exhibits about the Sultanate of Oman, and on the other the maritime hall, with exhibitions about the development of the rich naval history of the country and carefully carved replicas of old boats and ships of the Omani maritime trade.
